A Little About Me…

…’Cause every blog needs one.

You can call me Georgie. I’ve had clinical depression since I was 14. I’m 28 now.

It’s been tough to accept, along with autism, anxiety, possible undiagnosed ADHD and who knows what else…

About 6 years ago, when life felt like it couldn’t get any worse, I got big into self-care – in all it’s forms.

I’ll be honest… life got worse.

Then it got better. πŸ™‚

My personal brand of self-care is unconventional. I like to party, which does include drinking.

But I also like to take care of myself – my skin, my body, my home.

It’s a battle, especially when just getting out of bed is hard. But I do it.

Personal photo of Georgie, the writer behind the blog. An image taken after a moment of self-care exploring creativity with makeup and photography during golden hour sunset.
Meet Georgie's thoughtful companion: a sleek black cat caught in a serene moment, looking out the window, in a striking black and white photograph.

I want to talk about all of it and I want to be real – unfiltered, honest and unapologetic. (For the most part πŸ˜‰)

There are tons of resources online for this stuff but they’re often clinical, boring and difficult to read.

Even the most personal blogs still feel sort of distant.

I’ve scoured for a place where I felt like I fit because, like everyone, I make mistakes… a lot of them recently.

I’ve made those mistakes fueled by depression and anxiety, the need to escape, or just to feel loved and wanted.

I’m not using my mental health as a crutch to avoid accountability, but it does make me impulsive and emotional, avoidant and so many other things.

I couldn’t find a place that talks about that – the real, real talk. So here I am…

To be honest, I feel like an imposter doing this. It’s taken me way longer than it should have but I’m doing it.

I don’t hope to make a difference but if even a few people can relate and feel heard, then it’s worth it.
